♦️ Ghusl (Ritual Bath) and Its Rulings

As-salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh (peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you), dear brothers. Today, Insha’Allah, we will learn about Ghusl (the ritual bath).

Ghusl means washing the entire body with water with the intention of purification.

In some situations, Wudu (ablution) is not sufficient for performing prayer; instead, Ghusl is required. We will learn about Wudu in the next lesson, Insha’Allah.

Ghusl is required in the following cases:

1️⃣ The discharge of semen from a man or woman with sexual pleasure, whether due to sexual intercourse, a wet dream, or another cause.

2️⃣ Sexual intercourse, specifically when penetration occurs, even if there is no ejaculation.

3️⃣ After menstruation or postnatal bleeding ends for women.

4️⃣ Ghusl is also prescribed when entering Islam. Some scholars consider it obligatory, while others consider it recommended in certain circumstances.

 A woman does not perform prayer during menstruation or postnatal bleeding. Once the bleeding stops, she must perform Ghusl, after which she can perform prayer.

How do we perform Ghusl?

1️⃣ Make the intention in your heart to purify yourself and remove the state of ritual impurity for the sake of Allah.

2️⃣ Wash away any physical impurity that may be present on the body.

3️⃣ Wash the entire body with water, ensuring that water reaches every part of the body.

4️⃣ Rinse the mouth and nose.
