Belief in the Last Day

Level 3 – Lesson 7

The Fifth Pillar of Faith: Belief in the Last Day

Peace be upon you, dear brothers. I hope you are doing well.

Today, Allah willing, we will talk about the fifth pillar of faith: belief in the Last Day.

The Day of Judgment is the Day of Resurrection. There will be no day after it. On that Day, Allah will resurrect all people for eternal life, either in Paradise or in Hellfire.

Belief in the Last Day includes several matters:

1- Belief in the trial of the grave and the questioning of the deceased

We believe that the deceased will be questioned in the grave. Among the questions they will be asked are: Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who is your Prophet? What do you say about the man who was sent among you?

2- Belief in the Resurrection

We believe that Allah will resurrect the dead from their graves on the Day of Judgment, and they will stand before Him for judgment and recompense.

3- Belief in the records of deeds

We believe in the records of deeds that will be given to people on the Day of Judgment. Every person will have a record containing their deeds.

The successful believer will receive their record in their right hand, while those who deserve punishment may receive their record in their left hand.

4- Belief in the Scale

We believe in the Scale that will be established on the Day of Judgment to weigh deeds. We believe that Allah Almighty will not wrong anyone.

5- Belief in the Sirat

We believe in the Sirat, the bridge that will be placed over Hell, and people will cross it according to their deeds.

Some will cross like lightning, some like the wind, and some like the fastest birds. People will differ in the speed of crossing according to their deeds.

Some will cross safely, some will be scratched by hooks and then saved, while others will fall into the Fire.

6- Belief in the intercession of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)

We believe in the intercession of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), which is established in the Quran and Sunnah. He will intercede, by Allah’s permission, for those whom Allah allows him to intercede for.

All praise is due to Allah. The lesson is complete.
