What Are the Fruits of Faith and Steadfastness in This World and the Hereafter?

Question
What Are the Fruits of Sincere Faith When It Is Accompanied by Steadfastness in Obeying Allah? And What Reward Has Allah Promised the Believers Who Remain Steadfast?
Answer

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.

The full fruits of faith are realized only when faith is accompanied by steadfastness in obeying Allah. For this reason, Allah frequently joins faith and righteous deeds together in the Qur'an and promises those who possess both the best of this world and the Hereafter.

Among the Greatest Fruits of Faith Accompanied by Steadfastness

First: Its Fruits in This World

When a servant believes in Allah and remains steadfast upon His religion, Allah grants them abundant goodness, including:

  • A good and wholesome life filled with contentment and satisfaction.
  • Inner peace and tranquility of the heart.
  • Success in performing acts of obedience and remaining firm upon the truth.
  • Righteousness of the heart, speech, and actions.
  • Blessings in provision and work.
  • Protection from trials, doubts, and sinful desires according to the degree of one's steadfastness.

Second: Its Fruits at the Time of Death

Allah gives glad tidings to the steadfast believers at the moment of death. The angels descend to them, saying:

"Do not fear, nor grieve, but receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you were promised."
(Qur'an 41:30)

Thus, the believer's heart becomes reassured, and they are given the glad tidings of Allah's mercy and pleasure.

Third: Its Fruits in the Hereafter

Among the greatest rewards awaiting the steadfast believer on the Day of Judgment are:

  • Safety from the terrors of that Day.
  • An easy reckoning.
  • Multiplication of good deeds and forgiveness of sins.
  • Admission into Paradise by Allah's mercy.
  • Eternal residence in Paradise, where there is no fear, sorrow, death, or fatigue.

Allah has promised this in His saying:

"Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while being a believer—We will surely grant them a good life, and We will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do."
(Qur'an 16:97)

Summary

When faith is accompanied by steadfastness, it becomes a cause of a servant's happiness in this world and the Hereafter. Allah grants them a good life, tranquility of heart, and firmness upon the truth. Then, at the time of death, He gives them glad tidings, makes their reckoning easy, and admits them into Paradise by His mercy. This is the greatest success.

And Allah knows best.
