♦️ How to Perform a Four-Rak‘ah Prayer
Assalamu Alaikum, dear brothers. I hope you are well. We have previously explained how to perform a two-Rak‘ah prayer, such as the Fajr prayer, and a three-Rak‘ah prayer, such as the Maghrib prayer.
Now, Insha’Allah, we will learn how to perform a four-Rak‘ah prayer, such as the Dhuhr, ‘Asr, and ‘Isha prayers. It will be easy, Insha’Allah, if you have understood the previous lessons well.
First, we perform the first two Rak‘ahs as we learned previously. After the second prostration of the second Rak‘ah, we sit and recite the first Tashahhud.
After that, we do not say the Taslim or end the prayer. Instead, we stand up to perform the third Rak‘ah.
The Third Rak‘ah:
We perform it like the first Rak‘ah, but we recite Surah Al-Fatihah only, without reciting another Surah after it.
The Fourth Rak‘ah:
We perform it like the third Rak‘ah. After the second prostration, we sit and recite the complete final Tashahhud, including the Ibrahimic Prayer. Then we say the Taslim to the right and left, and the prayer is complete.
By Allah’s grace, we have finished explaining how to perform a four-Rak‘ah prayer.
I encourage you to regularly go to the mosque to perform the five obligatory daily prayers, as this will greatly help you master the prayer and put what you have learned into practice.
Our next lesson, Insha’Allah, will be a complete review of how to perform the prayer, with the help of videos.
After studying the lesson well, answer True or False:
The obligatory four-Rak‘ah prayers are Dhuhr, ‘Asr, and ‘Isha.
