The Sixth Pillar of Faith: Belief in Divine Decree and Predestination

Peace be upon you, dear brothers. I hope you are doing well.

Today, Allah willing, we will talk about the final pillar of faith, which is belief in Divine Decree and Predestination (Al-Qada’ wal-Qadar).

Belief in Divine Decree and Predestination, both good and bad

Belief in Divine Decree and Predestination is one of the fundamental beliefs that every Muslim must believe in.

Belief in predestination includes four levels, which are:

1- The First Level: Knowledge

We believe that Allah knows everything. He knows what has happened and what will happen, and nothing is hidden from Him.

2- The Second Level: Writing

We believe that Allah wrote the decrees of everything in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz) before they occurred, according to His eternal knowledge.

3- The Third Level: Will

We believe that everything that happens in the universe occurs by Allah’s will. Whatever Allah wills happens, and whatever He does not will does not happen. He has power over all things.

4- The Fourth Level: Creation

We believe that Allah is the Creator of everything. He created human beings, jinn, animals, inanimate objects, and all other creatures.

These are the four levels of belief in Divine Decree and Predestination that every Muslim must believe in.
