Hellfire

Peace be upon you, dear brothers. I hope you are doing well.

Today, Allah willing, we will talk about Hellfire. This is the subject of our lesson today.

Let us begin.

Hellfire is the abode that Allah has prepared as punishment for the disobedient and the disbelievers who rejected His religion and commands because of their disbelief and sins.

Hellfire is one of the matters of the unseen. We cannot know its true nature and details except through the Noble Quran and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet.

The Fire of Hell is immense and extremely hot. The Quran describes the severity of its heat and punishment. Its torment will make its inhabitants forget the pleasures they enjoyed in the worldly life.

The people of Hellfire will suffer from hunger and thirst. They will be given food that neither nourishes nor satisfies hunger, including the tree of Zaqqum, which will only increase their torment and pain. They will neither be satisfied by it nor find any pleasure in it.

As for the drink of the people of Hellfire, among their drinks will be extremely hot, scalding water. Because of their intense thirst, they will drink from it. Allah describes its effect:

﴿وَسُقُواْ مَآءً حَمِيمٗا فَقَطَّعَ أَمۡعَآءَهُمۡ﴾

“And they are given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines.”

[Muhammad: 15]

This means that they will be given extremely hot water to drink, which will tear their intestines.

As for the disbelievers who die upon disbelief, they will remain eternally in Hellfire. They will not die therein, and its punishment will not come to an end for them.
