There is no contradiction between this verse and the existence of disabilities or impairments, because all of Allah’s creation is based on wisdom and perfect craftsmanship. Allah says:
“Who perfected everything He created.”
Many scholars have explained the verse in Surah Al-Mulk as referring to the perfection and precision of the creation of the heavens, in which no flaw or disorder can be seen.
Other scholars have said that the verse has a general meaning: Allah’s creation is fundamentally perfect and precisely fashioned, and whatever disabilities or deficiencies occur do so for reasons of wisdom intended by Allah. They are not evidence of any deficiency in the Creator’s power or wisdom.
What Is the Wisdom Behind the Existence of Disabilities?
Allah, Glorified and Exalted, is Wise in all His actions. Among the wisdoms mentioned by scholars are:
Testing people and examining their patience and faith.
Raising the rank of the person who is afflicted and expiating their sins if they remain patient and seek Allah’s reward.
Reminding people of the blessing of health and well-being so that they may be grateful for it.
Demonstrating Allah’s power and that He does whatever He wills with wisdom and justice.
Allah’s actions should not be judged according to the limited standards of human beings. Many matters whose wisdom was initially hidden from people later revealed some of the good contained within them.
Conclusion
Allah’s saying, “You do not see any inconsistency in the creation of the Most Merciful,” does not contradict the existence of disabilities or deformities. All of Allah’s creation is based on perfection and wisdom, and whatever trials or deficiencies occur in some of His creation happen for great purposes known to Allah. They do not indicate any deficiency in His creation or creative power.
