“O Mary, you have certainly brought a shocking thing.”

Mary pointed to the infant Jesus, indicating that he would respond. The people were astonished and said:

“How can we speak to one who is in the cradle, a child?”
(Quran 19:29)

“Indeed, I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.”
(Quran 19:30)

The Miracles of Jesus

“And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel…”

Jesus healed people who suffered from severe diseases.

Creating a Bird from Clay

He shaped a bird from clay and breathed into it, and it became alive by God’s permission.

“Then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by God’s permission.”

These miracles were not performed by Jesus independently; they occurred by God’s permission, demonstrating that the true power belongs only to God.

The Message of Jesus

The central mission of Jesus was the same as that of all prophets: calling people to worship God alone.

The Quran quotes Jesus saying:

“Indeed, God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is the straight path.”
(Quran 3:51)

“I only told them what You commanded me: worship God, my Lord and your Lord.”

“Rather, God raised him to Himself.”

Muslims believe that Jesus was taken up by God and that he will return near the end of time.

Jesus in Islam

In Islam, belief in Jesus is an essential part of faith. Muslims believe that he is:

• A noble prophet of God

• Born miraculously without a father

• Supported with great miracles

• A caller to monotheism

• Raised by God and will return in the future
